My artistic background

School gave me little other than bullying and a inferiority complex about my place in the world. The exception was art. There I learnt both the techniques of drawing and the magical way it expressed my feelings and emotions far more acutely than my word could ever do. Colourblindness may have limited my art in some practical way but my teachers inspired me to use it as a platform to experiment. From handing in my first car as a mobile mural, for my art A level, to more recently gaining a City & Guilds in cabinet making I enjoy trying anything to express myself.

Up to this point my work has been my own and private. It was a personal way to deal and explore my life long battle with anxiety and not something I could have judged or viewed. Now, after facing some life altering situations, I have decided to use art as both my living and my way opening up to the world.

I love trying new mediums especially if I can find a new way to use them. Currently I am focusing on pen and ink but this has already lead on to murals on vehicles and feature walls both using vinyl dots. As my mobile studio developes I will continue experimenting and updating the site look forward to comments, suggestions or commissions.

My Inspiration

I have always been interested how we search for the humanity in our environment. We see faces in everything from a paint spots on a wall to the grinning grill of a new car. Maybe it's our way of surviving in such a artificial world. Currently I am exploring how far our minds will go to gain this comfort. I have experimented with the use of negative spaces, light and shadows and now point work to produce images both borderless and lose in form. Up close my point work is a formless mass of dots, individual and with no obvious purpose. Stand back and the mind begins to ignore the singular and sees the the human form from the mass. Now I ask myself how this may work in 3D?
